Last week, ‘The Sopranos’ turned 20. The show’s pilot episode premiered on January 10, 1999. The landscape of television has changed much since then, and many of those changes can be attributed to the show’s influence. A focus on character development (anti-heroes, as well), non-linear plot development, dream motifs, cinematic craftsmanship and sensibility—these are some of the many things ‘The Sopranos’ brought to mainstream television audiences.
We’re excited to announce a partnership with Zero Point Fiction, an art and culture audio magazine. Half Past Ten will have episodes that further explore the themes in our blog posts through narration.
For this first episode, we built on our James Gandolfini blog post to reflect on the legacy of ‘The Sopranos’ at 20. I spoke on James and my own personal connection to the show, such as my trip to Centanni’s pork store.
We hope you enjoy it.
Check it out on iTunes and Spotify, or stream it here.
And be sure to browse their episodes and series for other interesting content, such as artist profiles and serialized fiction.
